Doug Camilli: Just be patient, Lauryn Hill tells fuming fans

Lauryn Hill showed up two hours late for last Friday’s outdoor show in Atlanta, finally getting on stage at 10:20 p.m. Some fans booed, and that was before the city’s no-loud-noise-after-11-p.m. rule ended her performance after just 40 minutes. Not much music for tickets costing US$50 to $70.

After a few days of growing fan crankiness on social media, Hill responded the other day via Facebook, with a long-winded explanation that I’m guessing will make people even angrier. Here’s a bit of it:

“I don’t show up late to shows because I don’t care … The challenge is aligning my energy with the time … I don’t have an on/off switch. I am at my best when I am open, rested, sensitive and liberated to express myself as truthfully as possible …”

She did add that she regrets the short show.

She’s 40.

Model Miranda Kerr and Snapchat founder Evan Spiegel must be serious: TMZ.com says they just spent US$12 million on a one-acre Brentwood estate they’ll move into together. Business Insider, which has pictures, says Harrison Ford used to live there.

There are all the usual outbuildings, pool, etc. But the main house has just four bedrooms and six bathrooms.

Miranda’s 33. Evan’s 25.

Ben Affleck is trying win back Jennifer Garner, Nameless Insider and Don’t Usemyname tell People mag.

They divorced, you’ll recall, after a nanny scandal last summer. But they and the kids are still often together. The whole family was in Paris last week, for example.

Where’s this going? “Ben wants Jen back,” one source tells People. Another adds “Ben wants to get back together”.

However, a third alleged insider, this one from Team Jennifer, says “Jen is not ready to take Ben back.” Interesting wording.

He’s 43. She’s 44. Violet’s 10, Seraphina’s 7, and Samuel is 4.

Jimmy Kimmel, whose daughter Jane is almost 2, had a good Mother’s Day anecdote, passed on by EOnline.

Kimmel treated his wife, Molly McNearney, royally on Sunday, including a dinner reservation at a good resto — not named. But at dinner, he told his talk-show audience Monday night, “Jane decided to celebrate … by making my wife wish she had no kids. She wouldn’t eat, she wouldn’t sit still, she had no crayons, they had no high chair.”

They abandoned the resto before the food came, he said.

Now that The Good Wife has concluded, Julianna Margulies is laughing about the fact that she was the third-choice actress for the series. At some roundtable event sponsored by The Hollywood Reporter, she talked about getting the role only after Helen Hunt and Ashley Judd passed on it.

“I wanted to hate it, because you know, ‘(Bad word) you! You didn’t want me to begin with’ … But my agent said a great thing: ‘No one will know when they watch this show that Helen Hunt was offered it before you.’ ”

I can’t imagine anyone else in the role, can you?
